Dulgheru, Szavay into Budapest semis

07/09/2010 - Budapest, Hungary (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Second seed Alexandra Dulgheru was a hard-fought quarterfinal winner, while reigning champion Agnes Szavay of Hungary was an easy victor Friday at the $220,000 Budapest Grand Prix.

The 21-year-old Dulgheru came from behind before outlasting 20-year-old Latvian Anastasija Sevastova 6-7 (1-7), 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) on the red clay here. Dulgheru needed 2 hours, 41 minutes to survive.

The Romanian Dulgheru's semifinal opponent on Saturday will be the seventh- seeded Szavay, who won her eighth straight match at this event by pasting 2008 Budapest champ Alize Cornet of France 6-3, 6-1.

The heavy crowd favorite Szavay beat Swiss lefthander Patty Schnyder in last year's finale here.

Last year's runner-up, the 31-year-old, Schnyder reached a second straight semifinal here by toppling eighth-seeded Slovenian Polona Hercog 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 on Day 5.

The 2010 Budapest titlist will take home $37,000.
